I encourage most people to practice in a group setting, especially when beginning a new practice; The energy from the group helps lift us to greater heights!
When changing habits is a challenge (for example a new way of eating), it is often useful to start a daily yoga routine; be it 10 minutes a day or 2 1/2 hours a day! The amount of time one practices is dependent upon their level of fitness, history with physical exercise, health issues and so on. But the commitment to the daily practice should be 100% from everyone, regardless of where you are physically.
I find my regular yoga practice helps me maintain my focus on health, considerably. When I give to myself a certain amount of time each day, I become more in tune with my needs, more in tune with others around me, the world and the universe. I can deeply connect to myself, and that connection does not want junk food to disrupt it. That connection to my whole being feels better than any sweet treat, chip or popcorn ever can.
